Mladen Dragovic

Mladen Dragovic (1986), Belgrade (Serbia)

With the grand idea of Tuning to the Universe in my head, my first solo release "Skylights" is trying to remind people of the connection within and with others and everything that surrounds us. Combining synth pop with rock, fusion, gospel, metal, ambiental and even a bit of classical music, it was accaimed by the biggest names in Serbian music business. The album was entirely composed by me, but with a big help in arranging, sound design and performance from Adi Imeri, Milena Dragovic, Dino Imeri, Srdjan Tanaskovic, Sloba Dragovic, Marijo Pajic and Damir Imeri.

But, let's get back to the beginning.

Although started playing empty cans of coffee and sugar, through my brother I began taking piano lessons when I was 6. It took a while before I got my first set of drums (13) and at that point I was already learning percussion in music school Konjovic with Dusan Vrbic.
At Stankovic high school I studied theory and percussion with Sinisa Jovic and Ivan Marjanovic, have been called up for 3 tours with YMISO (international youth orkestra today known as ESYO), won state competition awards, performed with Stankovic Percussion Ensamble, played in a large 600 student orchestra concert performing Carmina Burana, meanwhile pursuing a "rock career" with Djordje David & Gang (later Death Saw, with whom I recorded an album called "Blood Avenger"), playing in Dream Theater, Megadeth and Whitesnake tribute bands. I am a co-founder of a famous Belgrade fusion band called Gis Maj Es (with whom I have recorded one live album in 2009 "Spaced Out" and a couple singles later on) and a parody rock band called Mental Diarrhea  (or Mentalna Dijareja in Serbian, who have recently released their first single "Getting old").

While I have also performed with Eurovision contender Jelena Tomasevic and a cult rock band Generacija 5 on several occasions, in 2011 I got a call to play a festival in Cyprus with a famous jazz singer Lena Kovacevic and have stayed in the band for a year, meanwhile performing with a guitarist and composer Vladan Vuckovic Paja. In 2012 I started working on a biggest Serbian TV show "Vece sa Ivanom Ivanovicem" and with the host band of that show - Ana Stajdohar. Lately, I've also been performing with The First Voice of Serbia judge and a big pop star Aleksandra Radovic and a renowned singer, dancer and TV host Aleksa Jelic.
